Welcome to First Calvary

The First Calvary Baptist Church was founded on August 9, 1903, in the laundry of Brother Robert Richessy Jett at 210 Divide Street. The laundry was located in Brother Jett’s yard, and the church bell was hung in a red oak tree. Brother Jett hauled a great deal of the material with his horse and wagon to erect the first building, which was located on Minnesota Avenue.

The church was initially named Marietta Baptist Church. On July 21, 1909, the lot was given to the church by the Lonsdale Land Company.

Rev Kevin L. White, Sr is an ordained Baptist minister currently serving as Pastor of First Calvary Baptist Church. Pastor White was called to the pastorate at First Calvary on November 6, 2022, and was formally installed as pastor on January 8, 2023.
